  5. Asha supports the evening schools / tuition centers. Teacher salaries Books, stationary & other expenses. Teaching material Teachers training Asha’s Involvement

  6. Six evening schools are currently run from 6 – 9 p.m. six days a week. Each center initially had ~40 children, now the number has grown to ~80 children. The age range of the children is 5-13 years, i.e. kg. – 7th class children. Most children do attend the day government school in their neighborhood, and many are continuing beyond metric and thinking of college. Teachers are from the same or neighboring village, most are metric pass. Evening Schools

  7. Hindi, Maths, Social studies, English are taught. School curriculum is reinforced. Children form groups on the basis of their class, and thus the teacher is able to teach in smaller groups. The children are interested in the evening classes, and enjoy going to the night school. The teachers also seemed dedicated and cared for the children and their interest. Evening Schools

  8. This is a tuition center with inexperienced teachers. There are bound to be issues/concerns. This is where Asha can play a proactive role. Provide teachers training on a regular basis. Provide libraries and additional teachers as class sizes grow. Suggest better teaching methodologies, and use of tribal language. Continue monitoring the evening schools and communicating with the coordinator & teachers. Asha’s Role
