GIF++ The new Gamma Irradiation Facility at CERN PhysicsDepartment Detector TechnologyGroup Expected changes of the TechnicalSpecifications • - The complete system can be bolted to a reference surface as a single unit • - The lead castleismounted flush with the ‘Downstream’ side of its support structure • - Only the field correction filter mount is provided • - The “Main” collimator becomes square +/- 37° • - A “4th layer” lead filter is manually attached to restrict the collimation window • - The filter changer design is proposed but remains optional • - The irradiator console and the automated filter changer are two distinct (modular) entities for safety and repair • - The filter changer module communicates with the environmental controls and collects “Source Exposed” + “Shutter” + “Live” signals from the irradiator console R.
