  1. Why More Businesses Are Implementing Retail POS Systems Retail POS system refers to a Point of Sale solution composed of hardware and software technology, to optimize on the transaction process. They combine software solutions such as POS software with POS hardware such as barcode scanners and RFID tags. Retail POS system automates the transaction process which leads to better and faster service to customers. This helps increase a business's efficiency within its operating environment and can boost the revenue earned by the business. POS hardware is composed of barcode scanners, RFID tags, RFID readers, computer terminals, and cash registers. Combined, they increase the fluency of the business's operations and thereby boost effectiveness. RFID tags refer to Radio Frequency Identification. Barcodes, on the other hand, are two or three dimensional symbols printed onto product labels. Both of these provide a method of automatic identification of a product. The identified product then has its information captured into the software system for automatic computation of cost. Preference for either system is based on the sophistication of the business in question. Barcode technology is more traditional and is found in a majority of retail stores. It has evolved from two dimensional systems that read lines of varying width and placement to systems capable of reading three dimensional systems. HDPOS Smart as POS hardware is more sophisticated. It is costlier but provides better service to the user. This is in the form of easier identification; barcodes can be scratched or obscured leading to problems with data capture. Furthermore, Such use is increasingly being employed with an increase in the losses, occasioned by petty theft and shoplifting. POS systems are being increasingly implemented as they provide the business with an advantage over competitors. Businesses, using such technology, usually serve their customers much faster at the transaction point. They also enable the business to generate relevant data as to its business operations. Such information can be related to which products are moving fast and whether or not their advertising and promotional methods are working. Where the business provides vouchers as incentives, the system can track these. Retail POS systems are increasingly being adopted to streamline and sophisticate retail processes.
