  6. History of WECF’s Coordination Role • Funded 1992 after Rio summit • Major network in EECCA • WECF elected lead of women’s major groups at UNEP and CSD • WECF organising partner of “women and gender constituency” at UNFCCC

  7. Preparation for Rio +20 • Call for all women’s NGOs to participate • Regional meetings • Participation in PREPCOMs and Intersessionals ‘10/’11/’12 • Better involvement of women

  9. Recommendations • Major groups’ involvement at any stage • Capacity-building essential • Financial means are necessary to guarantee participation

  10. Recommendations cont. - general • PP is not always enshrined in general rules • Representativeness: guidelines for internal structures of major groups • Speaking rights (e.g. interventions) should be improved
