ECTP BRT Certification Scope • ECTP BRT - 9.4 miles • Downtown Transit Zone - 2.3 miles • Euclid Ave BRT - 7.1 miles • Modification to existing maintenance facilities • Stations/bus stops • 5 median consolidated left side discharge stations • 26 median right side discharge stations • 29 curb side stops • 21 Rapid Transit Vehicles (RTVs).

  4. Unique Issues Associated w/ Certification • Modifications to Central Bus Maintenance Facility & Hayden Garage • RTV maneuverability restrictions • Lifts: adjustable 3-post lift & parallelogram lift • Fall protection • Gas detection system relationship w/ the new interior door • Wash rack.

Certification Successes • An active safety and security certification review committee (SSCRC) • Threat and Vulnerability Assessment (TVA) • Station roof modifications • Bollards at station ramps • Safety analysis on the MPD • Lock out knife switch for RTVs • Certification tasks inclusion in project master schedule.

Future Hurdles for BRT Certification • Certification efforts need to start at the right time during the project life cycle, “Planning and PE Phase” • Outdated FTA certification handbook • BRT certification not addressed in FTA’s handbook • Education of PMOCs to the basic certification process.
