  4. Lexington Youth and Family Services, Inc. …is a non-profit agency created to provide a safety net for Lexington’s youth and families who need after-school and evening support services.

  5. Kids in trouble often feel invisible As a community we notice less acting-out, but we see more acting-in: • more depression • more anxiety • more eating disorders • more cutting • more suicide attempts

  6. The challenge is to reach those teens in crisis who are disconnected and much harder to identify.

  7. Lexington has the following information and referral services in place: Human Services Department - 8:30am - 4:30pm 781-861-0194 Youth Services Department - 8:30am - 4:30pm 781-861-2742 School Guidance Department - 7:30am - 3:00pm 781-861-2580 (LHS)

  8. Lexington Youth and Family Services, Inc… …seeks to provide an alternative path to complement existing town services.

  9. LYFS Building a new after-hours safety net for at-risk, disconnected teens.

  10. Beginning with: • Advisory board membership for teens • Volunteer therapists for teens and families from 3pm to 9pm weekdays • Advocacy for suicide prevention and more services • Teen and parent support groups from 3pm to 9 pm weekdays

  11. In the future: • Drop-in Center – an accepting, welcoming place to “just be” • Peer Leadership - that reaches out and empowers • Crisis Intervention Hotline
