  2. Location • The structure was built in Olympia, Greece • It was built between 430-422 B.C. • No parts of the statue remain today

  3. Purpose • The structure was built by Phidias a Greek sculpture. • The structure was built as a shrine for the Greek God Zeus • The structure was used as a shrine in the Sanctuary of Olympia

  4. Uniqueness • The structure was unique because of it’s massive height and expensive gems and materials it was made out of • The structure took 8 years to complete • It was made out of Ivory, Bronze, Gold, Ebony

  5. Ancient Foresight • There are not many parallel structures, one is the Lincoln Monument in Washington D.C. • The structure was known to be one of the 7 Ancient Wonders of the World.
