Task Team structure • A broad partnership: • Hosted at the WP-EFF of the DAC • Chaired by Colombia • 15 developing countries • 14 multilateral organizations • 3 donors • 8 CSOs (in Nov 2009) • Technical support: • Regional coordination platforms (ADB, IDB and NEPAD) • The World Bank Institute • A policy advice and communication team • Partnerships: • UN-DCF • OECD-DAC • LenCD/CD Alliance

Adapting PD/AAA Enriching PD/AAA Complementarity SSC in the context of aid effectiveness AAA art. 19a: “We encourage all development actors, including those engaged in South-South co-operation, to use the Paris Declaration principles as a point of reference in providing development co-operation” AAA art. 19e: “[SSC] plays an important role in international development co-operation and is a valuable complement to North-South co-operation” AAA art. 19b: “We acknowledge […] in particular the role of middle-income countries as both providers and recipients of aid. We recognise the importance and particularities of South‐South cooperation and acknowledge that we can learn from the experience of developing countries” SSC in aid effectiveness agenda (AAA) SSC as a historic process – Diversity and Relevance for MIC Aid effectiveness agenda – Partnership paradigm, 5 principles

Generate and share evidence • Documentation of South-South Cooperation cases and practices in two ways: • Technical cooperation and capacity development • Recognisingdiversity of SSC as a historicalprocess • Aideffectiveness agenda: Partnership and principles • Open-minded and self-critical learning • Transparency and accountability • Case Studies: Deeper analysis, supported by experts and the Task Team • Case Stories: • Brief description, led by countries 2 1

Generate and share evidence • Criteria for presenting cases: • South-South technical cooperation among governments • Having taken place in the last 5 years • Detailed information available • Presented by both provider and recipient (ideally) • Expert already available (ideally) • Benefits of the analytical work: • Develop knowledge in your country or institution • Support by global and regional players • Impact on high-level policy-making • Building networks in the South • Call for cases will be launched in the second week of November
