  3. A Billion people worldwide have no access to health care.

  4. In times of a personal or natural disaster: There may be a long delay before traditional medical forces can be mobilized.

  5. Triage • Triage is performed, treating the most critical patients first. • There are usually not enough resources for all to be treated immediately.

  6. In the interim: • People: • Suffer emotionally from trauma • Have complications from high blood pressure. • Bleed to death. • Develop infections. • Suffer from diarrhea.

  7. Simple Holistic Practices can complement traditional medicine.

  8. Reiki is an ancient hands on, non-invasive healing system. • It can: • Promote health to the entire physical, emotional and psychic body. • Reduce blood pressure • Relieves pain • Supports immune system. • And in some instances slow down bleeding.

  9. Acupressure, also an ancient system, works on the body’s healing points. • It can reduce: • Diarrhea • Migraines • Insomnia • Stress • Pain in neck shoulders and back. • It activates the body’s energies to fight illness

  10. These are only two hands on complementary holistic practices that can be easily taught. • In addition there are local medical practices that complement, support and save lives during medical crises. • They include the work of such people as the local herbalist and shaman.
