  2. Funding Sources at Sun Valley ES • Title I Budget: $233, 820. • Zoom Budget: 352, 693. • General Fund: $33, 898.

  3. PURPOSE of Title Funding Title I provides federal funding to schools to help students meet the challenging State academic standards • Title I funds are targeted to schools with high numbers of children from low-income families. • Title I is part of the Every Student Succeeds Act and provides about $15 billion per year in federal aid to local schools across the United States. • More than 55,900 public schools receive Title I funds. • Title I serves more than 26 million children. • US Department of Education • Title I, Part A • Budget Tables

  14. NEVADA School Performance Framework • Schools receive points based on student performance across various indicators and measures … these include the following: • Academic Achievement • English Language Proficiency • Student Engagement (attendance) • Growth • Closing Opportunity Gaps

  15. How is the Star Rating Determined? • Points are totaled and divided by the points possible to generate an index score from 1-100. Index scores are associated with a one- to five-star rating as follows: • Below 27 = 1 STAR • At/above 27, less than 50 = 2 STARS • At/above 50, less than 67 = 3 STARS • At/above 67, less than 84 = 4 STARS • At/above 84 = 5 STARS

How are schools identified as TSI? • One or more subgroups not meeting target(s) two years in a row on one or more measures within Academic Achievement Indicator (Math proficiency, ELA proficiency, or RBG3) AND • One or more subgroups not meetings taget(s) two years in a row within two or more remaining Indicators: Growth (Math/ELA MGP/AGP), ELPA (WIDA AGP), or Student Engagement (Math/ELA Opportunity Gap, Chronic Absenteeism)

Sun Valley ES 2018-19 School performance Plan GOAL # 1: To ensure strong student achievement for all students by focusing on core instructional practices, collaborative planning and culturally responsive practices in implementing the NVACS Measurable Objective: Using Spring MAP DATA to increase the percentage of students in average to above average performance groups by 4-7% .

Sun Valley ES2018-19 School performance Plan GOAL # 2 : Through Collaboration among all general education special education, and ELL staff , students receiving ELL/Special education services will access Tier I instruction in a regular classroom environment. Measurable Objective: 100% of ELL and IEP students will spend at least 80% of their instructional day in general education classrooms with their non-special education peers. 2018-19 Goal #2 Met

Sun Valley ESFamily Engagement Goals GOAL #1: Conduct home visits to a minimum of 145 families (72 in fall, 73 in spring) building connections with families GOAL #2: 95% of parents will attend student led conferences in Spring 2019. Parents will understand their child’s assessment data, projected goals for state assessments, grade level expectations and end of the year growth in ELA and Math.

  25. 2019-2020 School Performance plan goals • Professional Development– Priority focus on a.) Literacy Specialist& b.) new ELA curriculum (Benchmark Advanced and Envision) for grades K-5 • Implementation of PLC format in all grade levels based upon DuFour model • Implementation of Grade level common assessments in ELA and Math • Family Engagement– Offering parent opportunities to engage in the school through family activities, Parent University, and teacher/school/parent communication. Implementation of Family Engagement center facilitated by Social Worker and FACE Liaison • Curriculum & Instruction – Increase rigor in Tier I instructional strategies in both ELA & Math (implementation of ELA and Math curriculum with fidelity in additional to PLC’s) Increase typical/more than typical growth in all grade levels.

Action steps • All teachers must work in collaborative teams • Teachers will implement the guaranteed and viable curriculum using common pacing based upon WCSD pacing guidelines • All teachers ensure the alignment of standards, curriculum, instruction, and tasks. • All teachers implement instructional strategies to facilitate student thinking. • All teachers ensure students have access to grade level task or assignments.

Action steps cont. • Teams monitor student learning through ongoing assessment • Teams use the results of assessments to improve individual practice • School/grade level provides a system of teacher, team, and school wide interventions and extension • School wide Math supports utilizing TOSA’s working with grade level teams to support teaching math strategies and teaching math for understanding • School wide ELA Support with Benchmark ELA curriculum • Support for Admin from Solution Tree to facilitate structured PLC framework in all grade levels
