  1. Prayer Matthew 6:5-13

  2. Where there is MUCH prayer, there is MUCH power; where there is LITTLE prayer, there is LITTLE power; where there is NO prayer, there is NO power!

  3. What is prayer? Prayer is communicating with God. No certain place or position. No special way to hold your hands, nor special words or orders to words. Prayer is telling God what’s on your heart, mind and soul. It’s not complicated, and it’s a wonderful experience.

  4. What is prayer for?

  5. Prayer gets your spirit closer to HIS! • When you pray, you are drawing closer to God. • Prayer is beneficial to you. The very act of prayer brings comfort and strength. • When you get close to Him, you become more like Him.

  6. Prayer changes your attitude. • You cannot remain in the presence of God and harbor hatred, envy, strife, etc. • God is love. When you pray, His love affects your thoughts and actions.

  7. Prayer affects the enemy. • Your prayers have a great impact on the kingdom of evil. Through faith and prayer we have power over demons! • Even the strongest demon must flee at the prayer of God’s elect. Dan. 10

  8. Prayer changes heaven. • Hezekiah prayed and changed the mind of God. He was to die, but his prayers added 15 years to his life. • Prayer affects the way God deals with you and those you pray for.

  9. Prayer affects others. • Your prayers touch others’ hearts. Your prayers cause God to move on behalf of the needs of others, some of who don’t pray for themselves. • Your prayers are the only thing that stands between them and the devil. Your prayers change other people’s lives. Don’t stop praying.

  10. A Beautiful Example Matt. 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. Matt. 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

  11. Make a prayer list • Personal needs • Your marriage, children and family members. • Church needs • The Pastor and Ministers • Those on prayer list • Lost friends and loved ones

  12. Refer often to your list • Use your list when you pray and you’ll find it easy to pray for 20, 40, even 60 minutes. Matt. 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask Him.

  13. You cant’ hide everything from Him. He knows you and He knows what you need. He knows your faults, even the number of hairs on your head. Matt. 10:30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

  14. Don’t hide from HIM • If you’re weak, ask for strength. • If you’re in need, ask for help. • If opposed, ask for assistance. • If you need a miracle, He’s a miracle worker.

  15. Matt. 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye:Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Notice, we should worship Him. Start with worship! As you pray, worship. When finished, worship!

  16. Matt. 6:10 Thy kingdom come, thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven His will, not yours! Surrender your will to Him! Did you ever think how His word is carried out in heaven?

  17. Matt. 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread Don’t forget the essentials. He cares about that, too. Tell him your concerns. Cast your cares on Him 1 Pet. 5:7 He wants to hear you secrets and your fears. Share with Him.

  18. Matt. 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors The way we deal with others is everything! Jesus came to earth to minister to the needs of real people. Ask God to forgive you of your sins and not hold the sins of others against them. Pray like this, be humble.

  19. Matt. 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever, AMEN.

  20. Don’t let us fall back into the slime we came out of!Deliver us from that sinful, old self.Everything is the Lord’s!Give Him the glory!
