  3. Comparisons • Three holy festivals are : Eid al-Adha, the Festival of the Sacrifice; Thanksgiving, when we celebrate the abundance that could feed our planet joyfully; and Hanukkah, the festival of Light in time of darkness, Hope in time of despair, Rededication in a time of desecration.

  4. Comparisons • Hanukkah reminds us to conserve our energy sources and especially reduce our burning of oil, and to remember that oppressive power-holders like the Emperor Antiochus long ago and Big Oil today can collapse when the people gather to rededicate themselves to the Breath of Life. • During these very days,  the Muslim world is celebrating Eid al-Idha, the Feast of the Sacrifice.  It recalls the moment when our common Father Abraham heard the ultimate teaching of the Infinite: “Do not kill your son!”

  5. Contributions • Islam had many contributions in science and medicine and education. The greatest mathematician was Al-Khawarizmi. He’s work created the study of Algebra.There are other philosophers who developed astronomic tables from Greek.Also, the work of Muslim astronomers helped pave the way for explorers like Christopher Columbus. pastries and frying it until it turns a golden color.

  7. Traditional Food • The sambusa is made in many different ways. But most people make it by cooking meat with vegetables and putting it inside pastries and frying it until it becomes a golden color.
