  1. Helen Burns LBQ • As a character, Helen is almost more tragic than Jane. She is persistently ridiculed and physically abused by Miss Scatcherd, yet she is unlike Jane in that she never fights back and withstands her punishment with quite resolve. Is Charlotte Bronte suggesting that Jane should learn from Helen’s fortitude, even in the face of unjust treatment? Why or why not?
