I Corinthians 1:1-4 1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes, 2 To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ--their Lord & ours: 3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 4 I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus.

I Corinthians 1:5-9 5 For in him you have been enriched in every way--in all your speaking and in all your knowledge-- 6 because our testimony about Christ was confirmed in you. 7 Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. 8 He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.

I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. 3,4 The Great Spiritual Consumables… a. Grace: Divine enablement freely given for actually doing the right thing b. Peace: Inner confidence & rest given to those drawing near to God for a clear conscience c. …other than Faith, Hope & Love!

  9. 3. We Lean On God the Generous 5 For in him you have been enriched in every way 5a 6 because our testimony about Christ was confirmed in you. 5,6 a. Enriched: Spiritually, genuinely, generously – more than we would have any other way b. Confirmation: your lives consistent with Christ’s words

  10. 4. We Lean On God the Instructor Enriched in every way -- in all your speaking and in all your knowledge 5b a. What you say: He is helping us control what we say; he promotes benevolent talk b. What you know: He is providing the insight & understanding we need; He promotes benevolent thinking

We Lean On God the Sufficient Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift (i.e., any divinely given, free benefit you need) as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. 7 Partial Summary of what has been shared up to this point a. You have what you need (not all the wants but all of what is needed). b. You already have it available (not seen but it is there). c. You have it until you meet Jesus (it does not expire).

  12. 6. We Lean On God the Helper He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 8 a. Strong: keep you hanging in there, consistent, able to do it b. Blameless: you wont be ashamed of yourself when you see God

  13. 7. We Lean On God the Dependable God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful. 9 a. He has called you to a permanent relationship with Him b. He has promised to help you and He is trustworthy; He keeps His promises!

  14. Theme We lean on God for everything because He wants it and because we need it.

  15. Our Challenge The more we lean on Himthe more spiritual vitality we have! The more we know about Himthe more riches we can realize! The more we do His willthe more grace and peace we will have!
