  1. LHCb Data StorageGlenn Patrick 06.06.00 LHCb will study CP violation by measuring the various decay channels of the B meson. Baseline model • Production centre processes and stores all of the generated data (ie. RAW,ESD,AOD and TAG). • Only AOD and TAG data shipped to other centres. • CERN is the production centre for real data. • Regional centres (eg. CLRC) are production centres for simulated data archive produced MC data. Glenn Patrick

  2. Simulation Dominates SignalAim for simulated events~10 x real events. Number of reconstructed events depends on B decay channel. For Bd D*, expect 106 events/year…. so need 107 MC events/year plus background just for this channel. BackgroundAim for simulated events~real events. 1012 bb pairs produced each year with a trigger efficiency of 10-3. Implies that 1012 MC events need to be tracked, digitised and triggered with 109 of these events reconstructed. Need to be clever….. Limited by cpu capacity. Glenn Patrick
