This project utilizes mobile technology and broadband connectivity to empower fishing communities, promote sustainable development, and bridge the digital divide. Mobile apps for fishing, oyster farming, weather updates, and sales have improved the livelihoods and quality of life for beneficiaries. The project aims to strengthen sustainability plans, expand app usage, implement new technologies, and integrate traditional knowledge with advanced technology.

Main Objectives for Next Phases • Strenghten the sustainability plan for the the activies developed • Massification and expansion of the use of the apps • Implement an oyster purifier and sales through the restaurants • Implement new technologies, such as the use of tablets, augmented reality and naval safety through the use of GPS tracking system

Facilitated by the use of applications and services supported by 3G technology, our Wireless Reach programs have created solutions for the sustainable development of local fishing communities that result in the integration of traditional knowledge and practices of local fishers with advanced technology. Mobile communications can play a critical role in promoting the development of rural economies and in ensuring that people living in rural locations have access to information that can increase their incomes, assist the well being of their families and provide opportunities to better educate their children. The community had a qualitative perception of the improvement of their quality of life with the project and showed commitment. Sustainable development also increased the community´s average income. Broadband improves the standard of living in metropolitan areas as well as in isolated communities. The transition the newer technologies such as 3G and 4G are an opportunity to bridge the digital divide in Brazil and in the region. Broadband Apps Impact to the Community
