  3. Problem Statement • Basic Education – approximate metrics: • Of 411 million students only 234 million enter school at all. Less than 20% reach high school, and less than 10% graduate (http://education.nic.in/sector.asp#size) • 1/3 of children in Grade V cannot read or write • Higher Education • Out of 3 million “educated” people who enter the labor force each year, only 500,000 are considered “employable in an international corporate work place.”

Ensure Mentoring and a Safety Net • Establish “Teach for India” for college graduates • Exploit the 100,000 CSC Centers as Knowledge Centers • Incorporate Knowledge Learning Centers in Special Economic Zones (SEZs)
