  2. Presidential contenders • We are all wondering who Jackson’s appointed successor was……… (drumroll, please!) MARTIN VAN BUREN!!! YES!!!!! • Jackson was getting old and wanted to serve a third term through Van Buren, a “yes man” • Whigs couldn’t decide one candidate- they ran 4 (like William Henry Harrison) to split up votes, so election goes to House of representatives

  3. Results!! WINNER WINNERWINNER • Van Buren (“little magician”) still scrapes up enough electoral votes to WIN (170 to 124) • Was primary choice of Jacksonians • Jackson’s legacy continues…
