Overview of SharePoint in our Organization • Primarily used as an active workspace and archive for projects and work groups • Intranet only • In use for over 3 years • Over 30 sites and sub-sites • Over 3000 users • Over 7.1 million hits total • Over 2 GB bandwidth used daily • Over 80 GB of data and files • No downtime issues during critical business hours

Less Practical Features • Discussions • Most discussions of this sort are dealt with in e-mail • Not many people found value in this feature in our office since most people on the main project team were centrally located • Wiki’s • Contributions or changes were rarely submitted to Wiki pages • Most Wiki pages were only changed by the original creator

Overall SharePoint Experience • Pros • Allows one central location for project artifacts, lists, and management • Allows groups to collaborate electronically in a secure environment • Reliability and uptime • Ease of environment management • Users typically learn and adapt to interfaces and functionality very quickly • Most business needs and processes can be addressed in some way with SharePoint • Integration with Microsoft Office very smooth

  14. Overall SharePoint Experience • Cons • Users sometimes want existing functionality to work differently • Misc. bugs that have since been corrected with updates
