  2. The Valley of the Eagles • The Chilkat Indians were the first to live in the area called the “Valley of the Eagles”. For thousands of years the Chilkat and eagles lived together. • Each enjoyed the rich food sources in the area.

  3. Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve • In 1982, the state of Alaska set land to protect the eagles. More bald eagles have come to the Northwest Coast than anywhere else on earth. In 1993, a record number of eagles were seen by a near river- 3,284 to be exact!!

  4. Summary • Eagles still live today. Alaska is protecting them. There are about 35,000 eagles living in Alaska.
