Info tomorrow: • Syllabus questions? • Remind • Remind about extra credit tomorrow • Book order to turn in? • No Agenda books- encourage you to get/create your own • Required books- required reading but may purchase with English dept order or on own- info on syllabus • Get Animal Farm by George Orwell: due August 24. Responsibilities so far: • Homework letter writing assignment- do your best- prefer typed. Due Tuesday at the beginning of class. • Get sleep- helps your brain handle everything this week • My website • Quiz on Syllabus next Monday.

  8. How to… Walk into my classroom.  Enter quietly. • Be on time! Sign the tardy log if you are late. You get one free tardy per nine weeks.  Always read the TV screen or board for directions. • Follow those instructions in your assigned seat. • Bell work

  9. Thinking you are smart and mature does not prove it to others. You must show it with your actions.

  11. How to…turn in assignments. • Put MLA heading on everything (top left corner) • Your name, my name, class/period, date. • Example: Jane Done Mrs. Parker English 9 11 January 2012 • Turn it in to the designated area for that assignment.

  12. How to…get dismissed on time. • The bell does not dismiss you. • Do not pack up 5 minutes before it’s time to go. (HUGE pet peeve!) • You must be in your seats and completely quiet before you will be dismissed.

  13. How to… keep your teacher happy. • Never complain about work. Class is tough, but fair. • Never make excuses; although, if there is a major issue at home please communicate with your teachers. • Bottom line…Be on time. Be respectful. Be prepared!

  15. How can you help yourself succeed? • Make sure you get regular sleep. • Inspect what you expect academically and behaviorally. Are you measuring up to your own goals? Positive changes do not happen unless you are intentionally making the effort. • Use your Powerschool access. • Practice your typing. Find your method of printing. • Stay on top of your assignments. • Ask if you need help!!

  17. CREATING A NEW FOLDER • HOLD CONTROL • CLICK ON THE DESKTOP • CHOOSE “NEW FOLDER” • SAY THE WORD “AND” BETWEEN YOUR TWO CLICKS AS YOU • CLICK ON THE UNTITLED FOLDER TWO TIMES • CHANGE THE NAME OF THE FOLDER TO ENGLISH • GO TO MY WEBPAGE, DOWNLOAD THE SYLLABUS, AND PUT IT IN THE FOLDER.
