  1. WHAT IS LIDAR SCANNING, AND WHO USES IT? Hiranigroup.com

  2. Mapping interiors While lidar has established itself as a go-to tool for creating 3D maps that can be used to analyze the Earth's ecology and learn more about the trends in climate change, the use of lidar to map the interiors of buildings and other locations has only lately begun. The ability to map interiors is helpful for surveying and exploration. Still, it also helps rescue workers who might have to enter a burning building or a collapsed structure after a natural disaster.

  3. MODELING TSUNAMIS AND LANDLINES (NATURAL CATASTROPHE ANALYSIS) When a tsunami is imminent, LiDARis utilized by tsunami warning systems to alert residents in that area. The elevation of the coastline and undersea is also measured using LiDAR. This data can be used to inform a GIS, which determines which regions are most likely to experience tsunami damage.

  4. FINGERPRINTS AND FORENSICS LiDAR is very helpful for building detailed evidence because it can quickly acquire thousands of measurements per second. LIDAR-based solutions can assist forensic investigators in making the data collecting process faster and more accurate than a manual approach because forensic investigations always start by gathering, reviewing, and analyzing evidence.

  5. Agriculture LiDARcan be used by agricultural technology businesses to pinpoint locations that receive the best sunlight for crop development.

  6. STUDIES IN METEOROLOGY AND THE ATMOSPHERE Itenables a wide range of measurements, including cloud profiling, wind patterns analysis, aerosols investigation, and quantification of various atmospheric constituents. Likewise, information about surface pressure, greenhouse gas emissions, and humidity can be obtained from atmospheric constituents.
