  3. Early Life • Born in New York City in 1894 • At age 14 he enrolled in The New York School of art,(formerly The Chase School of Art.) • Was always small in stature and was picked on for not being good at sports. • He always loved painting.

  4. Personal Life • Later in 1930 he married Mary Barstow, a school teacher. • In 1916 Rockwell married Irene O’Connor, they divorced in 1930 • Had one son, Thomas Rockwell • In 1959, His wife and son both died.

  5. Later Life • 1n 1960, Rockwell published his autobiography, “My adventures as an illustrator” • In 1961 he married a woman named Molly Punderson, a retired teacher. • He died in his home in Stockbridge, Massachusetts on November 8, 1978, at age 84
