Works Cited. Purpose: a list containing all the works that you cite (take direct quotes or paraphrase) in your text. This list gives full publishing information for each of the sources you have cited. *This list only include sources that you referenced in your paper.

  1. Works Cited Purpose: a list containing all the works that you cite (take direct quotes or paraphrase) in your text. This list gives full publishing information for each of the sources you have cited. *This list only include sources that you referenced in your paper.

  2. Page 13 of your LAHS Handbook: • Alphabetize • Double space • Do not indent the first line; but indent any additional lines one tab • Source names may be underlined or italicized. Keep it consistent • Page numbers • Publisher’s names • Anonymous • Punctuation Rules

  3. Works-cited entries differ and depend the type of source. Pages 14-23 Let’s take a look at the sample!  Page 27

  4. Documentations within your paper: the most important part of your research paper Without it, you have either plagiarized or made up your information. SO WHAT DO YOU DO??

  5. Signal Phrases!! They tell the reader that this part of your paper is drawn from a source. They also tell the reader that they can find the source in the list of works cited.

  6. There are varying ways to write a signal phrase. Let’s try one : Here, I chose to introduce my source with the author of the article. According to Rust and Clark in their article “How to Do Action Research in Your Classroom,” “Action research is a rather simple set of ideas and techniques that can introduce you to the power of systematic reflection on your practice” (3). Here, I took an entire sentence out of my source.

  7. Let’s try another way, without naming the author in a signal phrase: In the article, “How to Do Action Research in Your Classroom,” “Action research is a rather simple set of ideas and techniques that can introduce you to the power of systematic reflection on your practice” (Rust and Clark 3). Parenthetical reference includes a page number

  8. Or what if you’re only taking part of the sentence or you’re omitting some words? Then we use ELLIPSIS (three periods with spaces in between) to quote condensed passages Kelly Gallagher in Reading Reasons argues that “…Reading not only makes you smart, it keeps you smart…” (26). See page 12 for punctuation rules

  9. In the internet website, www.google.com/ig, it states that “you can make your own website according to your own preference.” According to Valerie Enciso in an interview conducted April 7, 2008, she tells me that “dentistry is fun and exciting.” She also argues that “dentistry is really cool.”

  10. For tomorrow and Wednesday, you will have time to write your rough draft in the computer lab. Let’s take a look at the format of a paper on the third page and page 28.
