The Principle Parts of a Verb(infinitive, present participle, past, past participle) • Regular Verbs Infinitive – work Present Participle – (is) working Past – worked Past Participle – (have) worked Regular verbs form their past and past participles by simply adding –ed to the infinitive form of the verb. You have been raised to do this correctly!

  3. Irregular Verbs • Irregular verbs form their past and past participles by changing the spelling of the work or making no change at all. swim, is swimming, swam, have swum write, is writing, wrote, have written hit, is hitting, hit, have hit Relax – you also already do this correctly for the most part and there are plenty of lists and 196 practice sentences in your book for you to enjoy at home or among friends. (pgs. 125 – 135 in Warriner’s) Right now – Ex 7 pg. 133
