  3. Preparation • Report Cards • Time to process and discuss at home • Parents can come prepared • Saves time during the conference • Goal Setting • Parents and student are part of the team • Goals are set prior to conference • Parents have different ideas • Parent Letter • Scheduling

  4. Preparation • Teachers plan together • Discuss what is to be accomplished • Gather & review data/notes/student work • Have student files prepared • Discuss goals for student • Create an outline for the conference • Prepare materials • Confirm scheduled appointments

Parts • Celebration (5 to 7 minutes) • Outline is provided for parents in English • Review Performance Levels • Student data • Student Language Proficiency Report • Discuss Areas of Focus • Goal Setting • Goals should reflect areas of concern • Teacher, parent & student goals are set • Parent support discussed *Throughout the conference the fundamental principle of the separation of language is demonstrated.
