  3. Mid-Year self-assessment on CSTPDescriptions of Practice. Spring Cycle of Inquiry • Select one or two areas of strength and one or • two areas of focus for each standard and complete • the DOPSummary. • Induction Standard Focus: • Standard 15 - Core Content • New Standard 6b - Teaching Special Populations • Revise your Individual Induction Plan (IIP) • Core Content area • 2 New Target Students - both special needs • One goal for each CSTP - revise original goals, as needed • Formal Coaching Cycle - focus on CSTP # 3 & IS 6b-Spec. Populations • - Between March 12th and April 30th Meetings • Student Work Analysis – Due at April 30th Meeting • Summary Reflection – Due with your Portfolio at May 21st Meeting

  4. DOP Protocol • CSTP 3 - Understanding & Organizing Subject Matter for Student Learning: • Take out the DOP for the CSTP Standard 3 Understanding & Organizing Subject Matter for Student Learning • Take out the CSTP Summary Sheet • You will need a pink marker or highlighter and a pencil.

DOP Protocol • Based on your self-assessment of CSTP #3 (Organizing Subject Matter), choose one or two areas you would like to improve and one or two areas you feel are going well. • Transcribe onto your Summary Sheet in the StrengthsandFocusAreas for CSTP #3. • The Focus Area will become your IIP goal for CSTP #3 (Organizing Subject Matter).

  7. Ask a Question Now that you have completed the DOP for CSTP Standard #3: • Jot down a question you have about: CSTP 3: Organizing Subject Matter 4 minutes • Make eye contact with a peer at another table. • Introduce yourself and take turns discussing your ?s. 9 minutes

Induction Standard 6b (Formerly Standard 20) Teaching Special Populations • With your Support Provider review, compare, and discuss the • Teacher Preparation Standard from your pre-service program and • the new Induction Standard for Teaching Special Populations. • Describe your strengths and challenges related to teaching practice for • Special Populations. Use “Initial Self-Assessment” box at bottom of page. • Think about how you might demonstrate how you are applying the • elements of the induction standard in your classroom right now. What • evidence could you provide? Add to “Initial Self-Assessment” box. • If you would like further support, think about the areas you might want • to explore.

  10. Induction Standard 6b - Special Populations Count off by 5’s What kinds of evidence might you provide for your portfolio for each of the elements below? What kind of district or BTSA support would you like? To ensure academic achievement for spec. pops., PTs adhere to their legal & ethical obligations for a) spec. ed. students, b) students with disabilities, c) advanced learners & d) students with a combination of special instructional needs including the identification & referral process for special services. 1 PTs implement district policies regarding support services for special populations. PTs communicate & collaborate with special services personnel to ensure that instruction and support services for special populations are provided according to the students’ assessed levels of academic, behavioral and social needs. 2 Based on assessed student needs, PTs provide accommodations & implement modifications. 3 Participating teachers recognize student strengths and needs, use positive behavioral support strategies, and employ a strengths-based approach to meet the needs of all students, including the full range of special populations. 4 PTs instruct special populations using adopted standards-aligned instructional materials and resources (e.g., varying curriculum depth and complexity, managing para-educators, using assistive and other technologies). 5
