Ilias Atwani came to know about the actual significance of Inukshuk after he got the opportunity to visit two Inuit villages with a local guide as a reward for winning a contest called Art of Mining. Atwani calls the experience of discovering the significance of the symbol that his company derives its inspiration from as extremely rewarding. One of the things that he learnt was that although the Inukshuks were earlier used for navigation and marking sacred places, they were now used as commemorative signs, and that is why their destruction is forbidden in their culture.
