Ilias Atwani’s Eye for Detail Helped Him Win ‘The Art of Mining’ Contest

The leading mining company Ilias Atwani works for celebrated 20 years of its community engagement in the year 2015. In order to celebrate the comprehensive socioeconomic engagement between the company and the Inuit communities of Kangiqsujuaq and Salluit, the company had organized a photography competition called '20 Years of Engagement'. The winning photograph, clicked by Ilias Atwani, was further sent to PwC Canada's annual photography contest. Much to everyone's surprise, Ilias emerged out to be the winner of this contest as well. Not just that, Ilias and the second-place winner were rewarded with a trip to the Inuit villages of Kangiqsujuaq and Salluit too.

  1. Ilias Atwani’s Eye for Detail Helped Him Win ‘The Art of Mining’ Contest The leading mining company Ilias Atwani works for celebrated 20 years of its community engagement in the year 2015. In order to celebrate the comprehensive socioeconomic engagement between the company and the Inuit communities of Kangiqsujuaq and Salluit, the company had organized a photography competition called ’20 Years of Engagement’. While the agreement addressed environmental protection and mitigation, dispute resolution, financial provisions, Inuit enterprises as well as training and employment, the contest brought various aspects of the employees’ personalities out. The winning photograph, clicked by Ilias Atwani, was further sent to PwC Canada’s annual photography contest. The contest which is called The Art of Mining celebrates the positive impact of the Canadian mining industry at home and abroad. Much to everyone’s surprise, Ilias emerged out to be the winner of this contest as well. Not just that, Ilias and the second-place winner were rewarded with a trip to the Inuit villages of Kangiqsujuaq and Salluit too. The trip was one of the most life-changing moments of his life. On the work front, Ilias Atwani is an experienced mining engineering professional who is currently working for a leading Canadian gold mining company in the position of a Mine Operations Coordinator. He received his bachelor’s degree in mining and mineral engineering from Laval University in the year

  2. 2012 after attending preparatory classes for engineering school at Institut Polytechnique privé de Casablanca in the year 2008. Taking his education forward, he is currently enrolled in an Executive Master of Business Administration (E-M.B.A) course at the same university. As far as his personal life is concerned, Ilias has the experience of working for several reputed mining companies across Canada. When not working, he likes to spend quality time with his family and friends enjoying activities such as watching movies, hiking, and more.
