The Different Types of Dinnerware That You Can Choose From

These types of dishes are made from clay that is soft and supple and can be used for creating detailed shapes. They are commonly known as chinaware; the only difference between them is the fire sitting. The clay that porcelain is made from comprises of kaolin, feldspar, and quartz, which is fired at a high temperature. This makes the dishware extremely durable and non-porous. Since the clay is heated, the body of the dish is thin and more delicate, which makes it look translucent. Chinaware and porcelain dishes have intricate detailing on them, which adds up to the cost.

  1. When you are out there looking for different types of dinnerware, be it casual or formal; make sure you scroll through the entire range. But, it is not possible to go from one shop to another, looking for different types of dinnerware. There is a broad spectrum of material to choose from, each material having its own unique quality, price, feature, etc. this is why before you decide to purchase dinnerware, it is important to learn a few points about each material and then come to a conclusion. Given below are a few common types of dinnerware that you can also add to your Home Decorators Collection:

  2. Porcelain These types of dishes are made from clay that is soft and supple and can be used for creating detailed shapes. They are commonly known as chinaware; the only difference between them is the fire sitting. The clay that porcelain is made from comprises of kaolin, feldspar, and quartz, which is fired at a high temperature. This makes the dishware extremely durable and non- porous. Since the clay is heated, the body of the dish is thin and more delicate, which makes it look translucent. Chinaware and porcelain dishes have intricate detailing on them, which adds up to the cost. Are they safe to use in oven? Most of the chinaware is oven and microwave safe unless otherwise indicated by the manufacturer. An important tip- do not use chinaware with silver, gold, and platinum borders for microwave use. Bone china The name says it all. Bone china is made of clay that contains bone ash of animal, up to 25% of it. The bone ash is then combined with porcelain and put on fire at a low temperature. This helps in producing a material which is extremely light in weight and translucent. It has a milky appearance to it and feels quite delicate to hold. They are not suitable for daily use as bone china is quite expensive. One can use it for formal dining occasion or as a part of their Home Decorators Collection.

  3. Earthenware They are not as expensive as compared to other materials. It is a ceramic that is obtained from glazing and then firing the clay. Earthenware usually looks thick, heavy and rustic, but they are not as durable as they look. When compared to other materials, earthenware is the least durable and is prone to chipping. Heat conduction is excellent in case of earthenware, and since the firing process is simple, you can get it at cheap prices. It is advisable to hand wash these dishes as they can easily wear off. Stoneware They are semi-fired or fully-fired, which makes the material look hard and dense. Stoneware is undoubtedly more durable than earthenware. You can use it for multiple purposes which make stoneware extremely handy and easy to use. Most of the stoneware that you will find in the market will be microwave and dishwasher safe. These were the most common types of the dishwasher that you will find around you.
