  1. Welcome to Worship! Pentecost 19

  2. Please join us for Holy Communion! Welcome to the Lutheran Church of our Saviour! We will be celebrating Holy Communion this morning. You need not be Lutheran nor a member of this congregation. All are invited to join us at God’s Table. Gluten-free bread and grape-juice are also available.

  3. Today’s Psalm Our Psalm for today is Psalm 146 found on the screen or on page 338 and following in your hymnal. We will be singing the Psalm responsively by whole verse.

  4. “Bridging the Gap” “You and I are part of powerful communities – a church, neighbourhood, community and a wonderful country in a world FULL of abundance. God has given us everything we need to work away at bridging the gaps in our midst. We just need to answer God’s call to do something ... anything.” From today’s sermon: “Bridging the Gap”

  5. Today’s Anthem Stuart Hamblenwrote “Until Then” in 1958, but like many of his gospel songs, it is still popular. Our choral arrangement is a gift from our Music Director, in recognition of Marie McDougall, who adds to our services not only as a choir member, but as pianist when we have “special” music.

  6. COFFEE HOUR Join us today following worship for Coffee Hour. Thank you to Joyce Kauffman & Mary Lou Armstrong from the Witness Ctte for hosting!

  7. Coming Next Sunday ... Please join us next Sunday (October 6th) as we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of St. Francis’ Place. Please stay following worship for a time of fellowship and a light lunch. Come and celebrate this unique ministry and its important place in the community of Owen Sound.

  8. Health Committee Survey If you haven’t already, please take a moment to fill-out the Health Ctte Survey found in your worship bulletins. This will help determine the needs of the congregation in terms of our health and healing ministry. Please leave your survey in the wooden box in the narthex or give it directly to Sylvia Statham. Thank you for your help!

  9. Congratulations to our own Rebecca Armstrong (daughter of Rob & Jodi) & Nicole Prowd (daughter of Richard and Susan). Rebecca and Nicole were both awarded a Synod Educational Scholarship. Rebecca was also awarded a Murray Scholarship for music, and Nicole a FaithLife Scholarship for the 2013-2014 academic year. Congratulations Nicole & Rebecca!

  10. Sunday Announcements Do you have something you would like to announce or share in church on Sunday morning? Simply speak with the Lead Usher (the Church Council Representative) prior to the start of worship. Padre Bob & Richard Prowd are our Lead Ushers for the months of September and October.

  11. Continuing Education Opportunity Are you interested in the role of health and healing ministries in the church? Inter Church Health Ministries (ICHM) is offering the Level I, Parish Nursing Ministry Education Program at the hospital in Owen Sound this coming fall. Registration deadline is September 30th. You do not need to be a nurse to participate! Please speak with Sylvia Statham or anyone on the Health Ctte for more information.

  12. Supporting OSHaRE Did you know that the new soup kitchen (OSHaRE) has been feeding an average of 80-90 people each weeknight, all summer long? Since OSHaRE really needs our help, we have decided to focus our attention here, instead of the Salvation Army. You are most welcome to keep supporting the Food Bank on your own, but the food collected at LCOS will now be given exclusively to OSHaRE. Thank you for your on-going support!

  13. OSHaRE Food Needs A conversation with executive director, Peggy Moulaison, has revealed that OSHaRE is running short on the following items: coffee, tuna, salmon, canned fruit salad, sugar and coffee whitener. Simply place your donations in the wicker basket or the cardboard apple box in the narthex and they will be delivered for you.

  14. Decorating for Thanksgiving Thanksgiving Sunday will soon be upon us! If you have any fall decorations or items from your garden that you would like to loan us to decorate our worship space, please leave your items between the glass doors the week of October 7th. We will need them to decorate the morning of October 12th. If you would like to help decorate, please speak with Donna Campbell.

  15. RIDE INTO LIGHT - 2013 The annual Ride into Light event, in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), will be taking place on October 4thwith a 20 km bike ride from Bruce Power (meeting at 10 a.m.) to Kincardine. BBQ lunch upon arrival. For more information, please contact the CMHA at 519-371-3642, x175.

  16. Georgian Bay Lutheran Women Fall Event “Thankful, Loving Hearts” Saturday, October 5th, St. James, Williamsford. 9:15 a.m., Registration and Fellowship Cost - $10.00 (includes lunch) Guest Speaker: Rev. Padre Bob Bouchard

  18. You are Invited ... On Sunday, October 27th, the Witness Ctte will be hosting a Potluck Harvest Dish Dinner at 5:30 pm. Bring your favourite fall dish (either main course or dessert). Beverages will be provided. Come and lets celebrate the fall season together! Please sign-up in the narthex.

  19. FaithLife Chapter We have just recently reinstituted our FaithLife Chapter here at LCOS. This will enable us to apply to receive matching grant money (up to $500.00) with some of our fund-raising endeavors. If you have any questions or would like to be involved, please speak with either Richard Prowd or Pastor Christie. A packet of information concerning the Chapter will be available in the narthex shortly.

  20. It takes a Priesthood of all believers ... We are currently looking for people to serve as Lectors, Sacramental Assistants, Liturgical Assistants, Usher, Greeters, Altar Guild members, Service Recorders, and Computer Operators on Sunday mornings. Might you consider serving this way? Please speak with Pastor Christie. A refresher course is available.
