  7. K-27 Pre-Demolition Overview • K-27 Building is one of the early gaseous diffusion facilities at ETTP • Has been shut down since 1964 • Covers 383,000 ft2 • Contains 540 stages of gaseous diffusion equipment • Similar in construction to the K-25 Building with structural challenges

  8. K-27 Pre-Demolition Scope of Work • Prepare the K-27 Building for demolition and disposition of all waste generated. The K-27 Building consists of nine building units occupying a 383,000 ft2 "footprint" with over 1.1 million ft2 of total floor area. • Deactivation of utilities • Asbestos abatement, hazardous material abatement, and universal waste removal • Vent, purge, drain, and foam operations • Characterization of system and building structure • High risk equipment (HRE) removal, HRE segmentation, and mining • Criticality incredible determination

K-27 Pre-Demolition Execution/Technical Approach • Majority work to be self performed • Asbestos abatement to be subcontracted • Support subcontractors include Radcon/IH, electrical, nuclear safety, training, administrative, engineering, characterization, and NDA • Packaging and transport for disposal of Tc-99 cylinders to be subcontracted

EMWMF Expansion Overview • EMWMF was constructed as a repository for waste generated as part of BJC's cleanup work • Currently accepting waste from K-25 Demolition project, K-1070 Burial Ground, and other ETTP D&D Projects • Current capacity is 1.2 million yd3 (Cells 1-4); Cell 5 expansion will increase capacity to 1.65 million yd3
