  1. Not sure if it is the right choice for you? Have you been thinking about taking classes at NICC? You’ve come up with the “why you shouldn’t”, so here are the “why you should” give the college a try… 1. But I’m tight on funds… Community colleges cost less than state or private colleges. The money saved during the two years can be applied towards earning a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college. 2. But I’m not even sure I want to go to college… Taking classes at a two-year college and finishing an Associate’s Degree, will give you the feel for the type of education you’d get at a four-year college. 3. But I don’t know what program interests me… At a community college, you can explore a variety of subject areas before committing to a program. You can also work with an academic advisor to find out what option is the best for you. 4. But I haven’t been in school for awhile, or my GPA isn’t that great… While many four-year colleges have selection criteria, such as a minimum GPA required, community colleges are open to everyone. Also remember that class sizes are smaller in community colleges which means more time for one-on-one attention. 5. But I’m too busy with my job and other commitments, my schedule is too full… At four-year colleges, course schedules are geared towards full-time students. At community colleges, the student population tends to be highly diverse so course schedules are developed with attention to the needs of both full-time and part-time students. *Information provided courtesy of www.collegeboard.com* Interested?
