CENTRAL NY* GREEN** INDUSTRIES & JOBS • Green jobs and industries still represent a small portion of total jobs in the Central New York region – 2.2 % • Green Companies still represent a small portion of total firms – 1.5 % • Green industries pay 55.6 % higher wages than the average wage in the region - $61,568 a year versus $39,572 a year *Central NY includes Madison, Onondaga, Oswego, Cayuga, and Cortland counties. ** Based on 40 six-digit NAICS Codes.

THE GREENING OF OCCUPATIONS • Green Enhanced Skills Occupations: The impact of green economy activities/technology results in a significant change to the work & worker requirements of an existing occupation. This impact may or may not result in an increase in employment demand for the occupation. For example, Architect where greening has increased knowledge requirements pertaining to energy efficient materials and construction as well as skills associated with integrating green technology into the aesthetic design of buildings (LEED certification).
