IEEE 802.18 RR-TAG Plenary Liaison Report

This report provides an update on the progress and status of various working groups and activities related to IEEE 802.18 RR-TAG. It covers topics such as UWB regulation in Japan, 5 GHz band rule changes in Japan, ITU-R SM 2352 on THz communications, and APT submissions on IEEE 802 agenda items.

  2. EU ETSI and CEPT status in many groups • Including, though not all: • BRAN, ERM, EU Council, CEPT, WGSE, WGFM and FM57 • Just a few highlights: • In BRAN the WI on 6GHz has been adopted. • EN 300 328 V2.2.1 in National Vote (ENAP) during Meeting • In FM57, Report A was published as CEPT Report 73 and is in public consultation. • Report B is due July 2020 • ECC DEC (09)01 on 60 GHz ITS • ITS as mobile service in the band 63.72-65.88 GHz • The C-ITS Delegated Act was rejected, ETSI has already started on next. Still reviewing petition. • https://mentor.ieee.org/802.18/dcn/19/18-19-0079-00-0000-bosch-petition-for-rulemaking-uwb-devices-and-systems.pdf • MSIT, Korea, has issued a consultation w/76GHz • Is this above the bands we have standards in? yes, we will pass. • 1W wireless power transfer product approved • Using some unlicensed bands • ITU-R and WRC, keeping up. • Met with staff and a few and identified some actions moving forward to keep up on those activities. • Items discussed in teleconferences since May. ITU-R SM.2352 on THz communications • Finalized inputs for ITU-R WP-1A on the report • It is ready to approve later for LMSC and onto to WP-1A • https://mentor.ieee.org/802.15/dcn/19/15-19-0276-03-0thz-ieee-802-15-tag-thz-input-to-the-revision-of-itu-r-sm-2352.docx • APT submissions on IEEE 802 Agenda Item view points. • To cover Agenda Items of IEEE 802, needed 3 submissions to different APT Working Parties. • IEEE 802 view points were originally put together more than a year ago, so some last-minute updates to bring current. • The family of 3 submissions were reviewed in detail and approved to move to LMSC and then APT.   7. MCMC (Malaysia) consultation out on WRC-19 Agenda Items, comments due 09 August. • The chair to work with the LMSC on ballot, approval and sending our comments to APT. • Also, still in need of a RR-TAG vice-chair and secretary. If any interest please see the Chair. Next Jay Holcomb (Itron)

  8. The RR-TAG adjourned AM1 Thursday this week. • Will hold weekly, as needed, teleconferences, 15:00-15:55et Thursdays • Next teleconference planned for 25 July 2019, 1500et/1200pt • Call in information: 18-16/0038-12 (or latest) • All notices are sent through the 802.18 list server reflector. • The next face to face meeting of the 802.18 RR-TAG will be at the IEEE 802, 17 – 19 Sept. 2019 Wireless Interim in the JW Marriott Hotel, Hanoi, Vietnam • Normal time slots, Tuesday AM2 and Thursday AM1 • Thank You 802.18 Meeting Close Jay Holcomb (Itron)
