  1. What Are What Are the Fire Protection System Fire Protection System the Essential Elem Essential Elements ents of of When we think about the fire protection system, then only two types of systems come to our mind: automatic sprinklers and fire alarms. Though, there are more than these two elements that can protect the building from fire hazard.

  2. Smoke is another dangerous thing that can take the lives of people in the building. Also, smoke indicates a fire in the surrounding. Therefore, it is very important to install smoke detectors through electrician North Shore to control fire hazards. Here, in this article, we will discuss all the important components that give protection from fire hazards: 1. Automatic Fire Sprinklers As it is clear from the name that automatic sprinklers immediately respond when

  3. the fire is detected. The word automatic here indicates that no human intervention is required. The automatic sprinklers installation in a large size building may be a huge investment. But, recovering damage due to fire is more expensive as compared to the installation of fire sprinklers. In addition to this, fire hazards not just result in property loss but also affect occupants inside the building. There are some situations where water sprinkling is hazardous. In such a situation, other fire extinguishing materials are sprinkled such as carbon dioxide, halon, foam, etc. 2. Standpipes The standpipe prevents the building from fire hazard. This fire protection system delivers water from the main water source to other hose connections. These types of connections are specially used by firefighters. There are five different standpipe configurations as compare to the NYC building code: Automatic dry Automatic wet Manual dry Manual wet Semi-automatic dry From the above configuration, it is understood that there are dry and wet standpipes configurations. In the case of dry standpipes configuration, the pipes are normally filled with pressurized air and water will only move inside the system when it is required.

  4. In the case of the wet standpipe, the pipes are always filled with water. The automatic system will build the required flow automatically by them. On the other hand, the manual system is dependent on the pumper truck. The semi-automatic systems require remote controlled signal for their operation. But, they are also capable to generate the required flow by themselves. The standpipes fire protection system can be further classified into three different classes on the basis of the hose connection:

  5. 3. Fire Alarm Systems The fire alarm system continually monitors the presence of fire in the building. When the fire is detected by the fire alarm system, then it produces audible and visible signs. These can be installed by 24 hour electrician North Shore. The fire alarm system has one control unit; this unit will receive the input signal from all fire detection devices installed. Based on the received signal, the control unit will activate the fire alarms.

  6. In addition to this, the fire alarm system will help in activating appropriate response measures in case of fire. Also, you should keep in mind that the fire alarm requirement varies with the changing occupants in the building. The fire alarms are different from emergency alarms. The emergency alarms are used to produce the alarm in case of a dangerous situation that includes hazardous materials. 4. Smoke Control Systems

  7. The human being can avoid fire hazards by instinct. But, only a few people know about the hazards associated with smoke. The smoke can limit visibility and also create poisoning effects when a person inhales a large amount of smoke. Thus, the fire protection system should be installed through reliable electrician in a building to prevent smoke hazards. The smoke control system prevents use by removing the smoke accumulation in the building. The smoke movement takes place due to pressure and temperature. You can observe that smoke flowing from the low pressure is to the high-pressure area. This technique can be used to escape the smoke from the building. 5. Fire Command Center This type of fire protection system is required in different occupancy classification such as high-rise constructions. As the name indicates that this system is used to monitor and display the status of different fire protection systems like detection equipment, control, communication system, etc. The fire commander center allows control for various other fire detection system. Make sure the fire commander system should be installed in an area where it is easily accessible. It should be installed in the lobby area or main entrance.

  8. 6. Fire Alarm Control It is clarified from its name that the fire alarm control system is used to control the fire. For fire control hoses and pumping equipment are required. This equipment must be placed in an area where these do not hinder the firefighting operation. Also, they should be placed efficiently so that they provide optimal coverage. As per the code and standard, at least one connection is required for every 300 feet

  9. of outer wall length. 7. Fire Pumps The fire pumps help in proving the water supply to the entire fire protection system. You can also use the fire pump for supplying water to the fire sprinklers. In this case, the fire pump is known as a sprinkler booster pump. You should note that fire pumps are operated by electricity. But, it is important to maintain the backup system in case of emergency and power outage.

  10. The fire pumps are very costly, but they form an integral part of the entire fire protection system, It is not possible to run the fire rescue operation without a fire pump. But, it is possible to avoid their usage completely and do not violate the code.
