Plan Buy Source Make Deliver What Is Supply Chain Management (SCM)? • A set of approaches used to efficiently integrate • Suppliers • Manufacturers • Warehouses • Distribution centers • So that the product is produced and distributed • In the right quantities • To the right locations • And at the right time • System-wide costs are minimized and • Service level requirements are satisfied

  4. MODULES INVOLVED : • MANUFACTURER • DISTRIBUTOR • RETAILER • CUSTOMER • PRODUCT

MANUFACTURER : -> A manufacturer is the one who produces the laptops. -> The inventory is constantly checked by the manufacturer for the need of raw materials or laptops. -> If the raw material count goes below the threshold, automatic notification is sent to the supplier of the required quantity raw materials.

  6. ->Also if the manufacturer wants to search the supplier for a particular raw material like RAM or Web Cam, He can select so and a list of suppliers for the same will appear. • -> Direct Email sending facility is present where in the mail will be directly sent to the chosen supplier. • -> The manufacturer manufactures laptops taking into consideration the quotation from the distributor.

  7. DISTRIBUTOR : • -> Distributor is the interface between the manufacturer and the retailer. • ->Whenever any product comes to him, he first registers it in the database. • -> He has a list of retailers whom he can contact regarding the requirement of the laptops. • ->The search using the laptop id of any laptop can be made to know about the quantity of the available laptops of that id.

  8. RETAILER : • -> Retailer is the one who is in direct contact with the customer. • -> He registers the new laptops coming to him. • -> He can send mail to the distributor regarding the quotation he wants. • -> Replies to the notification of the distributors.

  9. CUSTOMER : • -> Customer is the final link of the supply chain. • -> Whenever the customer buys a laptop from a retail store, he gets a customer id. • -> If in future , he has a complaint then there is a complaint form that he has to fill. And a complaint id will be sent to his email-id. • -> Using this complaint id, he can view the progress of his complaint.

  10. CONCLUSION : • -> So supply chain management is all about managing all these modules together and finally linking them together so that this link can be a benefit to the organization. • -> A good supply chain is the heart of success of any organization.
