  1. Eugenics Jessica Cobb, Larissa Blas, Roberto Florez, Obisike Okenwa, Jacob Radda

  2. Eugenics is a practice that states that the human race can be improved, if “good” genes are combined with other “good” genes. It is used to improve the human race genetically. Its hope are to only have reproductions of those with desired genes rather than those with undesired genes.

  3. In the 1883 a year after Charles Darwin’s death his half cousin Francis Galton found his research on “Theory of Evolution”, from that research he founded Eugenics. * After Galton’s research, Eugenics was practiced around the world, as it was promoted by the government.* Such actions like segregating those disabled, those with mental illnesses, those with different sexual orientation, minority races we segregated from the people with god genes and some even sterilized due to eugenics. The world didn’t want people in groups like these to procreate.* Eugenics was said to be one of the reasons Nazi Germany started the Holocaust. By the end of World War II it was slowly stopped practiced because of its association with Nazi Germany. * Today abortion and designer babies are said to be connected to Eugenics History of Eugenics

  4. Less people with diseases • More intelligent people bettering society • If you’re becoming a parent why would you want your child to suffer, you love them, you wouldn't’t. • Murderers would be nonexistent and felons would be hard to find “Pros” of Eugenics

  5. The chance to breed desired traits into humans • The idea of eliminating genetic defects • Obesity and dwarfism would be eliminated • People are treated equally “Pros” Continued……

  6. Helen Keller (disabled persons sill have a chance) • Who decides what a bad gene is ? Good genes can turn into bad ones. (e.g. Diabetes due to bad diet, Cancer due to sun exposure) • The Nazis found it brilliant, look what at what happened • Let “Nature” run it course • Science is not perfect what happens if it doesn't’t work entirely? • Kill off the sick? Sterilize them? • Similar to designer babies “Cons” of Eugenics

  7. Science is ever evolving, we run the risk of eliminating something we need in the future. • Freedom of choice no longer exists • Lets racism and prejudice exists • "No Child Left Behind" “Cons” Continued…….
