  1. Welcome Parents Mrs. Myers Science and Social Studies 7th Grade

  2. Syllabus: • Please read through the syllabus your child brought home the first day of school. Keep it at home to reference. A copy can be found in the “Forms & Documents” section of my school website.

  3. Teacher Website • Forms sections: You may find handouts and other things for printout • Calendar: You may find test dates, project due dates, skills taught for week

  4. Newsletter: • Students will receive a newsletter each week for important information. • It is given on Monday & due by Friday. • Parents are expected to sign the newsletter sheet each week. • Check the newsletter for important dates! • Newsletters WILL NOT be posted on the teacher’s website, nor will students be given multiple copies. It is your child’s responsibility to keep up with these each week. • Recommendation: Homework Folder.

  5. Homework • Students will occasionally have homework. • Students will be responsible for turning in the work by the DUE DATE. Late work is NOT acceptable!

  6. Rubrics • These are given so that students have a guideline for what the product should look like. • Students should use this like a check-list. • Meeting Standards= 80% • Rubrics could be in handouts, Ibooks, Google Docs, or posted on teacher’s website. • Ask your child to help you understand these. We have gone over them in class.

  7. Science Labs • Students will participate in Science Labs during which, lab safety is of extreme importance. -long hair should be tied back -closed toed shoes should be worn -no loose clothing or dangly jewelry that could dip in fluids we are using in the lab. -Absolutely NO HORSEPLAY will be tolerated! Violations will result in dismissal from the lab and an alternative assignment for the lab grade.

  8. SS- Current Event • Your child has a current event assignment each nine weeks. • Each student has a specific assigned due date. Check the website Calendar for this list of dates. • Your child has been given a copy of the directions & rubric. It is posted on teacher’s website. • This a test grade for the nine weeks. • Recommendation: Place in Homework Folder

  9. Materials: • Paper • Pencils • Spiral/ composition notebook (2 for Science; 2 for Social Studies) • 2 pocket; 3 prong folders • Personal hole punch • Zip-Drive • Personal Mini-Stapler, glue sticks or tape dispenser

  10. Parent Contact: • If I do not answer your email within 24 hours, please call during my planning or after 3:05. Our server has a very strict firewall. • My planning period is from 10:45-11:45. The school number is 626-5050.
