  2. What is a Satellite? • Is an instrument that is launched to the atmosphere and orbits around it. • Man made satellite is an object that you get any actions that happen in space. • The purpose of it is that it transfers information back to earth.

  3. How are they different? • A man made satellite and a planetary satellite are very different. • Man made is made out of metal/ aluminum and they aren’t round shape. Satellite Man made Satellite

  4. Communication • Satellites are used for communication, such as: - military - mobile - navigation - weather - collects info. seeing how things change over time - GPS - radio -much more

  5. How does a Man made satellites work?

Timeline 1950-2009 • 1951- Man made moon. “earth satellite vehicle. • 1953- The Brat man made satellite to circle the earth, weighing no more then 50 lb. • 1954- Keldysh and Korolyov sent a letter to the Soviet government, proposing of the Earth’s man made satellite. • 1955- US might launch the first man made satellite. • 1956- Man made satellites be able to chart earth shape or accuracy 30ft. • 1957- First man made satellite in orbit around earth. • 1959- Six man made satellites, five American and one Russian are in space. • 1963- Launched two super secret watchdog satellites • 2009- More than 5 years after the first man made satellite was sent up. Two satellites collided on February 10, 2009.
