  1. UPSC Posts List and Salary If you go through the UPSC job list, you will realise that there are a lot of jobs that give the same amount of salary as an IAS officer, which is the main attraction for people. In this ever-growing world, it is important to look for different options too. Being basic is a thing of the past. It is time to develop yourself and look for other posts too. Go through the UPSC post list and compare the salary, but remember that salary is not beyond and end-all! UPSC Examination The Civil Services Examination which is conducted by the UPSC, i.e., the Union Public Services Commission is an examination that is conducted each and every year by the Union Public Services Commission in India. UPSC is one of the toughest examinations in our country and each year, thousands and even lakhs of aspirants enrol themselves for the UPSC examination but not many get to clear and have to appear again and again in order to crack the examination. Different Stages of the Examination There are two different stages of this examination and these are: #1. Stage I The first stage consists of the Preliminary examination. This exam happens in the month of June each year and results for the same are out in the month of August. #2. Stage II Stage II of the UPSC examination is also known as the Mains. This stage consists of two parts – one is the written examination and the other is the interview.

  2. The written exam under Stage II – Mains is conducted in the month of October each year and the results for the same are announced in the month of January, next year. UPSC Post List The UPSC job list consists of 24 services. And these 24 job lists have been divided into three main categories: #1. All-India Services- as the name suggests, the services can be availed throughout India and they are the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS). #a. Group A Services also called Central Services #b. Group B services also called State Services Toppers can choose any of the services they like, but most choose IAS or IPS. Group A Service There are 16 services in the group A UPSC Job list, this list is related to issues of the central government. #1. Indian P&T Accounts & Finance Service #2. Indian Audit and Account Service #3. Indian Revenue Service (customs and central excise) #4. Indian Defence Accounts Service #5. Indian Revenue Service #6. Indian Ordnance Factories Service (Assistant Works Manager, Administration) #7. Indian Postal Service #8. Indian Civil Accounts Service #9. Indian Railways Traffic Service #10. Indian Railways Accounts Service #11. Indian Railways Personnel Service #12. Indian Railways Protection Force (Assistant Security Commissioner)

  3. #13. Indian Defence Estates Service #14. Indian Information Service #15. Indian Trade Service, Group A (Grade 3) #16. Indian Corporate Law Service Group B Services There are 5 jobs in the group B service list, this service list is centred towards a state or union territory. #1. Pondicherry Civil Service #2. Pondicherry Police Service #3. Armed Forces Headquarters Civil Service (Section Officer’s Grade) #4. Delhi, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep Islands, Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli Police Service #5. Delhi, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep Islands, Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli Civil Service Other UPSC Service List Other than the 24 service list, The UPSC also holds and conducts exam for various jobs, they are: #1. Engineering Service Examination #2. Geologists Examination #3. Special Class Railway Apprentices Exam #4. National Defence and Naval Academy #5. Combined Medical Services Academy #6. Combined Defence Services Academy #7. Indian Economic or Statistical Service #8. Stenographer Limited Departmental Competitive Exam

  4. #9. Central Police Forces Conclusion UPSC is said to have the toughest syllabus and also the best of jobs. So, if you are writing the UPSC exam and want to know what you can do after clearing it, then go through the UPSC job list. There are mainly 24 services provided by the UPSC, but there are 9 others too. You can write the UPSC exam for either of the 33 jobs, and all of these jobs are very well respected.
