Plasmid mediated ESBL in Pseudomonas aeruginosa Group 2be (class A enzyme)

ESBL producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa resistant to CAZ, ATM, FEP, borderline resistant to PIP, susceptible to TIM and TZP. Note the synergy between TIM and CAZ (key hole) and the modest synergy between TZP and ATM. Plasmid mediated ESBL in Pseudomonas aeruginosa Group 2be (class A enzyme)

  1. ESBL producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa resistant to CAZ, ATM, FEP, borderline resistant to PIP, susceptible to TIM and TZP. Note the synergy between TIM and CAZ (key hole) and the modest synergy between TZP and ATM.

  2. Plasmid mediated ESBL • in Pseudomonas aeruginosa • Group 2be (class A enzyme) • Inhibited by clavulanate, tazobactam • Hydrolyse ceftazidime, aztreonam • Key hole seen with Timentin /ceftazidime • Rare ESBL : • PER-1, VEB-1

  3. The ESBL producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa is also resistant to the aminoglycosides, gentamicin (CN 10), tobramicin (TOB 10), amikacin (AK 30) and ciprofloxacin (CIP 2.5).
