  2. Poland has population of about 40 millions citizens. It is situated in the heart of Europe, since 1st May 2004 is a member of the European Union. Technical Univeristy of Lodzis situated in the centre of Lodz – one of the biggest cities in Poland. TUL has a strong tradition of engineering education and is well known all over the world for its achievements in research, education and international cooperation.

  3. TUL is the only state university in the region providing high level technical education. 65 years ago… 525 students 3 faculties 33 departments …and today over 20 000 students over 1 600 academic staff 75 departments 34 fields of study 9 faculties

  4. Campus B Campus A Rector’s office is situated in the villa intially belonged to Reinhold Richter, a factory owner of middling wealth. It has its own park, a few historic villas, and revitalised factory bulidings adjusted to the needs of the university TUL unique, bustling campus covers the area of about 32 hectares

  5. Our Univeristy is the fourth best technical universitiy in Poland according to ranking prepared by the „Rzeczpospolita” newspaper and „Perspektywy” magazine. TUL has been awarded the ECTS Label by the European Commission and is the only universityin Poland which receivedthis prestigious certificatewhich acknowledges introduction of the standardsthat ensure good quality of studies and international exchange.

  6. Faculties Mechanical Engineering The Faculty has made a great contribution to the development of technical education in Poland and today its one of the best mechanical faculties in Poland.   7. Faculties Electrical, Electronic,Computer and Control Engineering Its one of the three oldest faculties at the University. Today it is a also the largest of TUL faculties, and one of the largest engineering faculties amongall Polish universities.   9. Faculties Material Technologies and Textile Design It educates specialists in textile design, technology, evaluation and marketing for industry, scientific institutions and various companies. Educational offer of the Faculty was extended, reflecting the changes at the labour market.   10. Faculties Biotechnology and Food Sciences The Faculty is unique among the faculties of all technical universities. The study programs at the Faculty are interdisciplinary, which guarantees the graduates will be well prepared experts, capable of combining chemical, biological and technical knowledge. Special Educational Units • Institute of Papermakingand Printing • Unique educational Unit in Poland.The institute carries out research and educates specialists in papermaking,printing and machine building for paper production, processing,and printing Field of study • Paper and Printing Technology • College of Spatial Economy • The youngest educational Unit at TUL. It was founded this year and starts to educate students since academic year 2010/2011 Field of study • Spatial Economy

  16. International programmes International Faculty of Engineering (IFE) The main objective of the faculty is to educate professional engineers and managers, fluentin foreign languages and able to demonstrate their knowledge in science, engineering, technology and business. Achieving this goal has been confirmed by the employment rate of the IFE graduates, which is one of the highest among the graduates of technical universities in Poland. International cooperation We are the first among Polish technical universities in the number of outgoing students under the LLP Erasmus Programme and in the number of exchanged students under IAESTE. Our students who realize part of their programme abroad can obtain double diploma: one from TUL and the other from the partner university in France, Holland, Great Britain, Denmark or elsewhere.

International cooperation The international cooperation encompasses student exchange as well as participation in scientific programmes TUL coordianates activity of Centre of the Baltic University in Poland (180 universities from 14 countries of the Baltic Sea region). TUL cooperates with over 400 universities, research centres, institutes and companies in 40 countries of the world.

  19. Special units Library Fully computerized, situated in revitalized old factory building. Computer Centre One of the most modern computer centresin Poland. Foreign Languages Centre Offers foreign languages teaching (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish,Russian) to students of TUL. Classes are run on varied levels and include technical language teaching. They are taught with the use of latest tools and methods in laboratories equipped with multi-media.

  20. Special units Centre of Mathematics and Physics The Centre offers new forms, tools and methods of distance learning. Sport Centre The Centre offers two halls for team games, halls for martial arts. Aerobics and two body buliding gyms. Besides the general physical education there are also possibilities to specialise in swimming, aerobics, tennis, women and men basketball and volleyball, football, judo, stretching and callanetics.

  21. Science and research TUL collaborates with the largest establishments and concerns from Poland and abroad, like Philips, Dell or Gilette. But it is also willing to cooperate with small and medium firms. Our university takes part in the research activities of six Advanced Technologies Centres and it coordinates two of them: CZT BioTechMed and ProHumanoTex. The University prides itself on many know-hows and licenses sold due to the activity in the areaof patents and commercialisation of the resultsof research done by TUL Technology Transfer Resort. TUL as the only Polish representative takes part in pilot project on „Technology Transfer from University to industry” carried by European Patent Office and Polish Patent Office

  22. Science and research TUL plays a vitlal role in technological clusters functioning in Lodz. We have also five Centres of Excellence associated with the faculties of Biotechnology and Food Sciences, Material Technologies and Textile Design, Chemistry, Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering. TUL runsmany international research projects. It also realizes projects within the European Community Framework Programmes, which are the largest European research fund. TUL takes fourth place among polish technical universities and eight among all institutions entering the 6th Famework Programme, wihich places it in the leadof Polish scientific research institutions.

  23. Students activity Our students take part in many practices and training programmes. We are the first among universities of Lodz in the numberof scholarships under „MŁODZI W ŁODZI” programme.

  25. What do we more? TUL fulfils its educational mission and passes on knowledge to 7-12-year-old children. Children University of Lodz was opened in 2008 as first such university in Poland operating within a technical university. A Secondary School was founded at our University in 2007. Its pupils wear uniform with TUL logo with pride.

  26. What do we more? TUL also offers education for seniors. The University of the Third Age was founded in 2006. It provides continuing education for eldery people and anables their further development.
