  1. Tadoa Ando Style Specific Work Design Era He was born on September 13, 1941 in Osaka, Japan. He was first inspired to become an architect after he saw a Frank Lloyd Wright designed hotel in Tokyo. Mr Ando started to become an architect on 1968 after when he got inspired by the world famous architects. He has is own design studio it’s called “TadaoAndo Architects and Associates” and his studio is held at Osaka, Japan. Post World War two when Japan was gearing up for mass production Ando designed housing complexes. Mr Ando has a very strong background in Japanese culture, his Japanese religion and also he is a self-taught architect or designer. He uses a haiku effect for his architecture design. Ando’s work is known for his use of natural light and the way his designs follow the natural shape of the landscape. His geometric buildings often have complex three dimensional circulation paths. This means an interweaving of interior and exterior spaces. One of the main materials he uses is concrete which helps to promote the idea of simplicity and peace. It is smooth, clean and basic. It is also functional and available. He has designed a small amount of furniture including a chair with a different kind of style. He has a contrast of light and darkness in the other of his design. Most of his design work he made everything in concrete to make it modern. This allows people to experience the goodness of the space within the geometry.

  2. Influenced by Impact on society Philosophy Mr Ando believes architecture can change and reform society. Good buildings attract public attention which is economically good for a country. He designs homes and churches and believes there should be no difference in their design as God is looked for in both places. Ando believes that dwelling in a house is both functional and spiritual. The house contains the mind and the mind contains God. One searches for God In church as well as in a house because the mind can be in both places. Churches help people find peace in their minds. He is influenced by his own Japanese religion and Christianity and he created the Church of Light a Christian church. His buildings are very Zen influenced which focuses strongly on simplicity. Zen concentrates on inner feelings instead of outward appearances. Ando believes that dwelling in a house is both functional and spiritual. The house contains the mind and the mind contains God. One searches for God In church as well as in a house because the mind can be in both places. Churches help people find peace in their minds. The famous architects he is influenced by are Le Corbusier, Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe, Frank Lloyd Wright and Louis Kahn. Mr Ando believes in Japanese culture in his modern architecture and landscape design. He uses an idea of Frank Lloyd Wright design features. Ando designed the Rokko Housing complexes One and Two. These clustered buildings were specifically designed and engineered to suit the site and therefore they survived undamaged after the Great Hanshin Earthquake of 1995.

The materials in this design is concrete, wood and metal. It is good to use these kind of materials because so the preacher will able talk louder. In the design Ando made the gap to show the light source to shine inside the alter to the back at the church. This make people feel that they are already in heaven because god has shows the bright way of life. In the outside of a church Ando decides to put landscape plants or tree to make a place peaceful enough. People will feel they are in a nice environment. Honpuku Temple (Water Temple) This is made on Japan,1991 and designed by Ando. The materials Ando used in this design is metal and concrete. This materials is quite good to use because the stairs will take someone down to the temple and it’s quite peaceful to walk down the stairs. The water will surround the whole temple for peacefulness.
