  22. KIC - Knowledge and Innovation Community • Ogni KIC è una rete in cui ciascun nodo della rete è a sua volta una rete, tipicamente un cluster nazionale • Ogni KIC prevede 4-6 nodi. La sede principale di ciascun nodo/cluster è chiamato co-location centre (CLC). • Durata di una KIC: da 7 a 15 anni • Le KICs dovranno contare su una varietà di fonti di finanziamento, tali da assicurare solide basi finanziarie: nazionali/regionali, Comunitari (non EIT), privati, risorse dei partecipanti L’European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT) è come una “Università Europea” strutturata in KICs (Knowledge and Innovation Community) simili ai Dipartimenti EU focus: Occupazione! • Aziende (Grandi e PMI) • Università • Istituti di Ricerca e Formazione • Autorità e Istituzioni Pubbliche • Servizi Finanziari • Etc.

EIP - AGRI Launched by European Commission on 29 February 2012 • Aims: • at providing a working interface between agriculture, bio-economy, science and others at EU, national and regional level. • It will also serve as a catalyst to enhance the effectiveness of innovation-related actions supported by Rural Development Policy as well as the Union Research and Innovation. • Two headline targets have been identified for this EIP: • •promoting productivity and efficiency of the agricultural sector (reversing the recent • trend of diminishing productivity gains by 2020); • •the sustainability of agriculture (securing soil functionality at a satisfactory level by • 2020).

Biotechnology and EU‘s industrial leadership • Europe is the world leading producer of enzymes (75%) • Europe is heading the implementation of Industrial Biotechnology (IB) for fine chemicals Biotechnology (IB) forfine chemicals • Nearly 70% of the IB's R&D expenditure by leading companies worldwide spent by European firms • The potential contribution of IB to Gross Value Added to date is in the 50-60 billion € range globally; it is estimated to total to 300 billion € by 2030.

  40. BRIDGE PPP • BRIDGE stands for ‘Biobased and Renewable Industries for Development and Growth in Europe’. It is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) on Bio-based Industries (BBI) being established in cooperation between the European Commission and the Biobased Industries Consortium (BIC). • About 50 European large and small companies, clusters and organisations across technology, industry, agriculture and forestry.

Joint Programming Initiatives (JPI)Public-Public Partnerships • Suitable Joint Programming areas are identified by a High Level Group on Joint Programming • bottom-up approach and high-level commitment from Member States, coordinating national programmes. • For each initiative, participating countries will start with: • Voluntary participation of MS • JPI Governance • Developing a shared vision for the area; • Defining a Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) and SMART objectives (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-Bound); • Implementation of the SRA, assessing expected impacts and defining the best mix of instruments to be used. • EU funding to manage the JPI: no funds for research  RESEARCH FUNDED BY MS (in relation to their commitment, funds, rules and selection). • Lunching calls: PILOT ACTIONS
