  1. iResult description Version 2010A

  2. Introduction • IResult is a 2D Vector Viewer of Eclipse simulation data. • It loads summary vectors from the Eclipse run and displays them in a series of predefined plotting and reporting template • It allows fast, convenient and efficient post processing of the simulation results • Automatically generated Powerpoint presentation for multiple plots is a significant advantage of using IResult. • It allows dynamically link the wells plot from different types of graph. • RMS calculation and history matching quality index is included for effectively assessing the quality of the modeling.

  3. Requirement • .SMSPEC and .UNSMRY file (.S0001, .S0002, … files in case of un-unified data) must be presented. • If loading RSM data, the EXCEL keyword must be presented in the SUMMARY section of the run. • It is recommended to use the “Create SMRY keyword” utilities included in IResult to create the main part of Summary section of the run. This Utility scans the Schedule section or file for the wells and create a basic set of Summary vectors to be included in Eclipse. User then can add additional vector of his choice to the file. • It is recommended that AutoSave feature of Excel turned off to avoid unnecessary saving of the program.

  4. IResult Menu Navigator -Select/navigate well -Select/navigate group -Select navigate well in the selected group Set the time frame of display • Data loading • Load first case(s) • Add more case(s) • Load Auxiliary data Create MS powerpoint presentation Option Switch between production plot template: rate/ratio/cummulative Switch between production and injection data Add current plots to the end of active powerpoint presentation Add/Remove loaded cases from plot Copy data (shown in all plots) to clipboard

  5. 1-2: Load/Add Data • Even though RSM file can be loaded, .SMSPEC is the first choice for loading summary data as: it is faster, it does not depend on RUNSUM options, and there is no need to wait until the end of the run (only after that RSM file is created) to load the result. • If loading RSM data, the EXCEL keyword must be presented in the SUMMARY section of the run. • Multiple files can be selected for loading/adding data. • Eclipse result can be loaded/added when the case is running. • Historical data in first case in the list will be used as observed data (User can select another case to show historical data using Option setting). • It is suggested to use the “Create SMRY keyword” utilities included in IResult to create the main part of Summary section of the run.

  6. 3- Load Auxiliary data • When user run the IResult, program automatically load the file IResult.aux in the program directory. • User can reload data using Load Aux Data utility • In new dialog, user can load BHP data, well location for base map, group definition of wells. User can also load the data from aux file or save all aux data in memory to a file.

  7. 3- Load observed BHP data • Following format is recommended, which consists of three columns: Wellname, Date, and BHP values. VW13BHP.txt Well name Date Pressure value

  8. 4- Load Group definition Groupdef.txt • Production/pressure data for a group of wells can be easily shown by loading group definition file. • Unlimited groups can be defined. • The production/pressure data for loaded group and for wells in each group can be viewed using navigation button. Well name Group name

  9. 5- Load well location • Well location can be loaded for showing in base map. • Text file with columns of Wellname-I-J-X-Y can be loaded. However, the best way is to just scan the Schedule section of the Eclipse case by selecting “SCH Eclipse data” option when loading the file contain Schedule data. Program will load the I,J coordinate of well from WELSPECS data.

  10. 6-7 Add/Remove case to/from plot • Loaded cases can be add, removed from 4 standard plots, showing oil, water, gas, and pressure data. Oil plot Water/liquid plot Gas plot Pressure plot

  11. Navigate around • Navigation panel selects/navigates well/group/well-in-group for showing in the plots. • Plot selector select 1 from three templates for display: rate, ratio, and cumulative • Refresh: redraw the plots after changes in option/plot type/… Redrawing can also be done by navigating from current well. • In well selector panel, well can be sorted by several criteria: completion date, name, cum oil, cum water, cum gas, error, quality index. • Upon selecting a well, data for that well will be display, well symbol in basemap will change the color. Well can also be picked for display by clicking to the well symbol in basemap. • Multiple wells can be selected by holding Shift or Ctrl when picking the well. Data will be summed up accordingly.

  12. Set Axes • All plots can be formatted mannually as any other Excel graph. The axes scale for all 4 can be adjusted at one using Set Axis Range.

  13. Option Type of BHP pressure Case for which historical data be shown on plot as observed -Show flowing BHP - Base map option Line thickness Fix color of line in plots: green on oil, red in gas, and blue in water

  14. Create/Add ppt • Plots for all wells can be transferred to MS powerpoint at one. User has several option for exporting. The result will be shown in next slides. • MS powerpoint must be opened before exporting. • In addition, current 4 plot can be added to the end of active powerpoint presentation. • Data shown in all plot can be copied to clipboard. • Add plot to powerpoint presentation and copy data to clipboard will work in the same manner in other modules.

  15. Example: Export 4 plots only 4 current plots will be exported

  16. Example: Export 6 plots with basemap 6 plots will be exported: oil rate, water rate, gas rate, wct , gor and pressure

  17. Other Vector Viewer Modules

  18. ExtPlot • ExtPlot module lets user create graph other than standard templates used in IResult module. • It works in similar manner as Eclipse Result Viewer.

  19. ExtPlot main menu Open dialogue for creating customized plots Open dialogue for creating customized plots Add active plot into the end of an active powerpoint presentation as new slide Delete all plots in this module Add all plots in this module into active powerpoint presentation

  20. Data management menu Case selector Vector selector Add selected vector to list of curve to be plotted as a plot variable Remove selected curve from the list Select selected vector as a descriptor variable of the plot Plots curve(s) in the list in a active chart Copy data in the list to the clipboard Plots curve(s) in the list as a new chart

  21. CPlot Module • CPlot lets user plot oil, water, gas rate of the connection of the well. Provided that these vectors for each well was requested in the SUMMARY section of the run. The utility “Create SMRY keyword” in Utility sheet helps to generate the list of all wells in the run. • Well in this module is linked to well in IResult module so that selected well in this module (or vice-verse) will be display in other module

  22. CPlot menu and view Select a case from loaded cases Add the current 3 plots to MS powerpoint presentation Select a well for ploting Oil Rate Water Rate Gas Rate

  23. Report Module • Allows generating some summary plot of the simulation run: cummulative production of wells, production error, root mean square error, history matching quality index, … • The detailed summary can also be generated in the text form.

  24. Report Plot Menu Select time interval Select number of wells to display Select case Option for calculating RMS Report summary Sorting option Plot type Option for calculating quality index Add current plot to active pwerpoint presentation Water Plot Oil Plot Liquid Plot Gas Plot

  25. Tutorial 1 – Load data • Open Iresult.xlsm and enable the macros. • In the start-up Iresult sheet, click “Load ECL Cases” button. Navigate to the DemoData directory (in the installation package) and select to open file 50x50x50M. • After loaded, the graph will be updated with observed data. Click “Add case to plot” and select the loaded case, click OK to add into plot. The graphs will be updated with simulated data. • Click “Select well” to select the well to display.
