  2. Biden’s Nominee For Joint Chiefs Of Staff Advocates Strong Defense Ties With India President Joe Biden has nominated General Charles Q. Brown, a former Indo-Pacific leader and advocate of close defense ties with India, to be the next Joint Chiefs of Staff. Brown, who has served as the commander of the Air Force component of the Indo-Pacific Command, will be the second African American to be the nation’s top military officer if confirmed by the Senate. For the first time, the Pentagon would be led by African Americans, with Lloyd Austin as Defense Secretary and Brown as the highest-ranking officer.

  3. As President, Nikki Haley Would Ban Abortion Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has for the first time openly taken a position on abortion and even then, hedged her bets. On May 24, the media reported, she said she would sign a federal abortion ban into law if she were president, but… said it was unlikely to happen as there weren’t enough Republican members of Congress to pass it. The Hill reported that she said, “No one has been honest” about how difficult a ban would be to achieve, while speaking in Manchester, N.H. “It would take a majority of the House, 60 senators and a president to sign it,” she said. “We haven’t had 60 Republican senators in 100 years.”

Surgeon General Vivek Murthy Cautions Against Social Media Effects On Mental Health Of Youth United States Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy has released an advisory which warns that while social media may offer some benefits, there are ample indicators that it can also pose a risk of harm to the mental health and well-being of children and adolescents. Social media use by young people is nearly universal, with up to 95% of young people ages 13-17 reporting using a social media platform and more than a third saying they use social media “almost constantly.”

Tesla Will Pick New Factory Location This Year, India A Contender: Musk Elon Musk will likely pick a new location for a Tesla factory by the end of this year and according to him, India is very much part of his scheme of things if all goes well. In an interview with Wall Street Journal, when asked if India is an interesting choice for a new Tesla location, Musk responded: “Absolutely”. In March this year, Musk selected Mexico for the next Tesla Gigafactory. Tesla has several factories in the US, including Fremont, California. The electric carmaker also has factories near Berlin, Germany and Shanghai, China.
