  1. MimoStar2 tests @ Berkeley

  2. Outline • Test setups and test priorities • Discovery of dead pixels in the middle of the frame • Increased noise (calibration results) • Chips selected for the telescope prototype

  3. Test setups and test priorities • Test setups • Mezzanine card • compatible with existing DAQ system • Flex cable setup • dedicated to the telescope prototype • driven by the HFT detector design requirements • readout system had to be developed first • Priorities • Build telescope readout system • Build telescope with 3 MimoStar2 chips … • Debug noisy Mother Board-Mezzanine Card System

  4. Strange pixels in the middle of the frame Chip 1 –Flex cable Chip 2 –Flex cable (internal Gain = 5) Chip 3 –Flex cable Chip 2 –Flex cable Assumption: some sort of distortions (since no dead pixels had been observed before). The problem seemed to be more serious/more fundamental than the high noise observed…

  5. Lab verification • Fe55 calibrations IPHC – results from Strasbourg Mezz. Full – chip bonded on a mezzanine card Mezz. Part – chip bonded on a mezzanine card with part of the bonds (like for a flex cable) Flex1 – only on flex cable in the hft system Flex2 – two chips in parallel in the hft system • The noise doesn’t come from the DAQ system (~1 ADC)

  6. Chips for the telescope ONLY one chip has ONLY two dead pixels

  7. Calibration Results • Fe55 calibrations after assembling the telescope head
