  6. FEDERAL TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM 100% OR UP TO $250.00 PER SEMESTER HOUR ($167.00 PER QUARTER HOUR) FOR A MAXIMUM OF $4500 PER FISCALYEAR. Montgomery GI Bill participants may ALSO qualify for Tuition Assistance Programs if enrolled 1/2 time or more, and can receive all benefits simultaneously. Mandatory Guidelines • Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA) Applications must be received by the education services office PRIOR to the START date of each Semester / Term and or individual class. • A new request for T/A must be submitted, received, and approved for EACH NEW Semester / Term and or individual class start date.

  9. Who's Eligible for FTA • All active members of the TNARNG in good standing are eligible for ARNG FTA. Officer, Enlisted, New Recruits (Rep 63’s), Officer Candidates (OC) and Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP’s). • Montgomery G.I. Bill (MGIB) and FTA will pay for one degree at each level; Associates, Bachelors, Masters / first Professional and or one Certification. • HOWEVER; FTA will also pay for a lateral degree at each level IF the first degree was obtained without using ARNG FTA. • Any soldier receiving NINE (9) AWOLS within a 12 month period will lose ARNG FTA privileges until redeemed by CDR BUT Soldier will lose ALL MGIB benefits Forever

Montgomery GI Bill - Reserve Component Traditional Drilling National Guard Soldiers (Chapter 1606) • Requirements • 6 -year obligation • High school grad or equivalent • Complete basic and AIT Benefits 14 years of eligibility (after 01 Oct 92) 36 months of benefits $11,844 (Full time = $329per month) Graduate School* Bachelor Degree Program* Associate Degree Program* Vocational/Technical* Independent Study* Apprenticeship* Flight Training* OJT* *All programs must be approved for VA benefits

  14. MONTGOMERY GI BILL Combination of Programs CH 1606/CH 30/CH 1607 = 48? Guard Members who received or are receiving VA benefits under any Chapter of MGIB could qualify for an additional 12 months of other MGIB benefits. Veterans who have not used all 36 months of benefits, or have not reached their limitation could qualify for their remaining months + 12 more months under another Chapter.

Chapter 1607 (Reserve Educational Assistance Program –REAP)-Benefit may be available to you if you are a member of the reserve component and meet at least one of the following: • served on AD on or after 11 Sep 01 Title 10 for a Contingency Operation for at least 90 consecutive days. • Served on AD under Section 502(f), Title 32 for 90 consecutive days when authorized by the President or Secretary of Defense for a national emergency, and duty was supported by federal funds. • Disabled member injured or have an illness or disease incurred or aggravated in the line of duty and released from active duty before completing 90 consecutive days. The amount of REAP benefits you receive each month as a student is based on the length of your deployment.

MGIB AD CH30/ MGIB Ch 1607Monthly Payout Rates • MGIB AD CH 30 1321.00 • MGIB CH 1607 (REAP) Amount based on length of deployment • If You Are Deployed: • 90 days – less than a year = 40% / 528.40 • 1 year – less than 2 years = 60% / 792.60 • 2 years or more = 80% / 1056.80 • All amounts are based on fulltime enrollment.

  17. MGIB Kicker The MGIB Kicker is an additional $200 per month in MGIB benefits offered through the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA). Eligibility Requirements: • Eligible for MGIB CH 1606/30 basic benefits. • Non-prior service enlistees that test 50+ on ASVAB, in valid position vacancy within a Critical Skill MOS, Complete Initial Active Duty for Training. OCS/SMP/College Bound Student/Soldiers $350 Kicker • Prior-service soldiers in skill level 1-2 who enlist or reenlist directly from the Active Army and who enlist in a High Priority Unit for which they are MOS qualified and have basic Chapter 1606 or 30 benefits remaining. • Current Army National Guard members who served a minimum of three years consecutively (no break, ie.. ING,IRR) in the ARNG are eligible to extend for benefits. Must be MOS qualified for the eligible position and have basic Chapter 1606/1607/30 benefits remaining. ****See your Readiness /Retention NCO’s ****
