Positive to negative. Excellent to poor rating scales. High numbers should mean a more positive answer.

Example: Where do you work? A. North, B. South, C. East, D. West B. Open-ended questions are less likely to be answered but can give valuable insight. C. Rating or agreement scales allow participants to give opinions about a specific topic without having to write a text based answer.
